Dermaplaning

dermaplane, dermaplaning, close up, face hair, smooth skin,

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive and safe cosmetic procedure for your skin. It is a method of physical exfoliationthat uses a sterile surgical scalpel tool to gently and safely scrap and shave the dead skin, hairs and other skin imperfections off of your face. Dermaplaning can help reduce the appearance of acne scars or other skin imperfections by revealing newer, undamaged skin. It can make your skin look younger; though, it doesn’t stop the aging process. Some people also get dermaplaning for hair removal. This is only a temporary fix because your hair will grow back. (And no, your hair will not grow back thicker. The reason it feels thicker in the beginning is because we give the hair a blunt end instead of its naturally tapered shape.)

Benefits of Dermaplaning:

  • It painlessly exfoliates the stratum corneum to stimulate cellular turnover with little to no downtime.

  • It is a great option for clients with sensitive skin and pregnant women who are looking for a deep exfoliation.

  • It can be performed prior to treatments like facials, laser hair removal, microdermabrasion, and chemical peels for better product penetration.

  • It helps makeup go on smoother and more evenly.

  • It does not make the hair grow back thicker and darker.

  • Brighter, more youthful skin tone

  • Removing small hairs or peach fuzz

Dermaplaning Side Effects

Most people have little to no irritation or reaction. Short-term side effects may include:

  • Red and/or swollen skin from the scraping

  • Soreness

  • A burning or tingling sensation for about 48 hours after the procedure
